At TalePaws, your memories and your privacy matter deeply. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how you stay in control. We keep things simple and honest — because the people we love deserve nothing less.

1. What we collect

• Your pet's memorial — name, species, breed, dates, memory text, and photos you upload to create their memorial.
• Conversations and letters — messages you exchange with your pet's AI companion, generated letters, and content you choose to make public.
• A device identifier — a random, anonymous ID stored in your browser to manage free usage limits and your paid membership. It does not identify you personally.
• Basic analytics — page views and technical data (such as language preference) to keep the service fast and reliable.

2. What we never do

• We never sell your personal information to anyone.
• We never use your photos or conversations for advertising.
• We never share your private memorials with other users unless you choose to make them public.

3. AI transparency

Conversations and letters are generated by artificial intelligence to sound like your beloved pet. In accordance with the EU AI Act, AI-generated content is always clearly presented as such within the product. AI output can occasionally be inaccurate or unexpected; please use it for comfort and reflection, not as a substitute for professional grief counselling.

4. Third-party services

• AI providers — your messages may be processed by our AI service providers to generate responses. We select providers that do not use your data to train their models.
• Payments (Stripe) — if you purchase a membership, payment details are handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
• Hosting — our servers are located in Singapore.

5. Cookies and local storage

We use a small amount of local storage in your browser (your language choice, your device ID, and your paid status). We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

6. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

You may request a copy, correction, or deletion of your data at any time by contacting us. To delete a memorial, contact us with a link to the memorial and we will remove it promptly. You can also simply stop using the service — your data is never sold.

7. Children's privacy

TalePaws is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your country) and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Data retention and security

We keep your data only as long as needed to provide the service. We use encryption in transit, restrict access to a minimum, and delete memorial data within 30 days of a verified deletion request.
